Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.
Albert Einstein

One might read this quote and think that Albert Einstein is reflecting negatively on education but rather he was a brilliant man and we are finally understanding what he means in this quote. If you drill students into memorizing material for assessments such as test, yes they will learn but the question becomes how much will they really retain. If you teach students through their interest and connect with them on a deeper level of understanding you will help them gain insight into the content being studied so that they may truly understand the concept rather than memorizing facts about the concept in order to pass a test. Through many of our new instructional methods we are now encouraging students to be able to use critical thinking skills and show the content through projects such as PBL - in which we are really teaching and students are learning in school. They are learning and they will remember what they have learned. This is my goal in education. I love this quote
